PeerTutor Tutor Agreement and Code of Conduct

This Tutor Agreement and Code of Conduct (Agreement) is between you and the operator of the PeerTutor service at peertutor.academy (PeerTutor). It governs your application, activation, and service as a PeerTutor tutor and supplements the PeerTutor Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Read the entire Agreement before signing. If you do not agree, do not activate or use a tutor account.

1. Electronic signature and records

By selecting the acceptance checkbox, typing your name, and choosing Sign and activate, you intend to sign this Agreement electronically. Your electronic signature will have the same effect as a handwritten signature to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

You consent to receive, review, sign, and retain this Agreement electronically. You confirm that you can access this page and its downloadable text copy. You may print or download the Agreement before signing and may download a receipt afterward. You may request a paper copy or withdraw consent to electronic records through the PeerTutor contact page, but withdrawal may prevent or end tutor access where an electronic record is required to operate the program.

PeerTutor records the exact Agreement text and version you saw, its SHA-256 content hash, your typed signature, the time of acceptance, and limited technical evidence used to attribute and protect the record.

2. Eligibility, accuracy, and access control

You must provide accurate and current identity, age, qualification, and account information. You may use only your own account and must protect your password and setup links.

Tutor verification is acceptance of the current PeerTutor account terms and this Tutor Agreement. Tutor access also requires completion of mandatory tutor training. Management may withhold, pause, suspend, or revoke tutor access for safety, integrity, program-capacity, or policy reasons.

PeerTutor may require accurate profile information and current calendar availability as part of account setup, but those items are separate from verification and mandatory training.

3. Volunteer service and no solicitation

PeerTutor tutoring is an unpaid volunteer activity. PeerTutor does not offer wages, fees, tips, gifts, or other compensation for tutoring. Nothing in this Agreement waives a right that cannot lawfully be waived.

Do not request, accept, or arrange payment, gifts, gift cards, donations, or anything of value from a student or guardian.
Do not advertise, recruit for, or move a student to a paid tutoring service, business, fundraiser, or personal offering.
Do not claim authority to speak for, bind, or make commitments on behalf of PeerTutor.

4. Safety and communication boundaries

These rules protect students, many of whom are minors. A violation may result in immediate suspension while PeerTutor investigates.

Keep every tutor-student interaction inside approved PeerTutor messaging and classroom tools.
Never request, accept, or share personal phone numbers, personal email addresses, home addresses, social-media accounts, gaming handles, passwords, or other off-platform contact information.
Never meet a student in person or arrange a private meeting or lesson through another service.
Never ask a student to keep a secret from a parent, guardian, teacher, or PeerTutor reviewer.
Never request or send photographs, sexual content, violent content, hateful content, or other age-inappropriate material.
Use recording-enabled sessions only after the platform clearly marks the session as recorded. By joining a session that is clearly marked for recording, you consent to that recording and authorized safety review.
Report any suspected abuse, exploitation, threat, grooming, self-harm risk, or serious policy violation immediately through PeerTutor reporting or contact tools. Contact emergency services first when someone faces immediate danger.
Do not retaliate against anyone who raises a good-faith safety concern.

5. Professional conduct

Your role is to provide patient, accurate, age-appropriate academic support within the subjects for which PeerTutor approves you.

Tutor only subjects you are competent to teach, and say when you do not know an answer.
Keep your profile, qualifications, availability, and attendance records truthful and current.
Be prepared, punctual, respectful, and free from harassment, bullying, discrimination, threats, or intimidation.
Do not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, diagnostic, or crisis advice.
Do not introduce sexual, romantic, political, religious, or other adult personal topics that are unrelated to the student's academic work.
Do not record, publish, or share a student's image, voice, name, messages, notes, or work outside authorized PeerTutor tools.

6. Academic integrity

Tutors teach the method and help students do their own work. Tutors do not become the author of a student's submission.

Do not complete a graded assignment, quiz, test, exam, application, or submission for a student.
Refuse requests to cheat, conceal unauthorized help, or misrepresent authorship, and report serious or repeated requests.
Do not extract, publish, sell, or distribute answer keys, protected assessments, private student work, or restricted curriculum materials.
Do not falsify attendance, lesson completion, impact records, or volunteer hours.

7. Platform use, privacy, and third-party materials

Use PeerTutor only for authorized educational and program purposes. Do not probe security controls, bypass access restrictions, scrape private data, upload malware, impersonate another person, or interfere with another user's access.

PeerTutor handles account, profile, learning, lesson, safety, and technical information as described in the Privacy Policy. Tutor profiles may use a public alias; tutor email addresses and application records are not intended for public display.

The curriculum may link to third-party educational materials. PeerTutor is independent from those publishers, and their own terms and licenses apply. Do not claim that a publisher sponsors or endorses PeerTutor or you.

8. Enforcement and reporting

PeerTutor may restrict, suspend, or terminate tutor access for a suspected or confirmed violation, inaccurate application information, policy failure, program closure, or risk to a user. Where permitted or required, PeerTutor may preserve relevant records and report safety concerns to a guardian, school, service provider, law-enforcement agency, child-protection authority, or other appropriate organization.

The PeerTutor service and curriculum are provided as available and do not guarantee student outcomes, uninterrupted availability, tutor placement, volunteer hours, or any academic credential.

9. Changes and complete agreement

PeerTutor may issue a new version of this Agreement. A material change requires a new affirmative acceptance before protected tutor features are available. A later version does not alter the exact text preserved with an earlier acceptance record.

This Agreement, the PeerTutor Terms of Service, and the PeerTutor Privacy Policy form the agreement governing your tutor role. If a tutor-specific obligation in this Agreement conflicts with a general provision, this Agreement controls for your tutor activity to the extent permitted by law.
