Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide and information generated as you use the Service:
- Account details — your name, email address, role (student or tutor), password hash where applicable, time zone, and account access status.
- Profile content — bios, headlines, subjects, qualifications, availability, and any photo or video links you add.
- Tutor account records — tutor profile status, training status, related qualifications, and signed tutor-agreement evidence. Agreement evidence includes the exact agreement text and version, its hash, typed signature, acceptance time, IP address, browser information, and an evidence hash.
- Account setup evidence — when an account is activated, we record the account terms acknowledgment version, exact acceptance text, content hash, acceptance time, IP address, browser information, and evidence hash.
- Learning activity — curriculum progress, study plans, answers, bookmarks, notes you add while using the Service, and paired school assessment scores that an authorized program administrator records for outcome evaluation. Anonymous Study Helper assignments and notes stay in your browser's local storage. Classroom and messaging data will be collected only if those currently paused features are enabled. Signed-out checked practice uses short-lived signed question tokens and does not save an account identifier or attempt history.
- Technical data — limited logs such as IP address and browser type, used for security and to operate the Service.
2. How we use information
We use your information to:
- Provide public learning paths, checked practice, and study planning.
- Manage account access and, when enabled, approved tutor support.
- Send service notifications and important account emails.
- Measure coarse learning events, paired school assessment movement, and aggregate outcomes, without placing raw answers or assignment notes in analytics event properties.
- Keep the Service safe, prevent abuse, and comply with the law.
3. What other users can see
Tutor profiles are public so students can find them, but we use public display names only (for example, “Nikhil”). Public tutor profiles may include a tutor’s subjects, headline, bio, and availability. Email addresses are not published on tutor profiles. Tutor account records are restricted to authorized program managers.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to operate the Service, such as with hosting, database, email delivery, file storage, security, and analytics providers that process information for us, or where required by law.
5. AI and model training
We do not use student or tutor account content, résumés, messages, classroom work, or curriculum progress to train AI models. If we add an AI feature that changes how your information is processed, we will update this policy before using that feature for production accounts.
6. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies that are essential to the Service, such as keeping you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
7. Data retention
We keep account information while an account is active and only as long afterward as needed for safety, abuse prevention, dispute handling, or legal requirements. Recorded classrooms, if enabled, use the disclosed program retention period and are removed under the configured storage lifecycle. Public curriculum remains available without an account. School partners may impose additional retention requirements for records they control. Account setup and signed tutor-agreement records may be retained after account deletion where needed to establish the agreement, resolve a dispute, meet a legal obligation, or protect users.
8. Your choices
You can review and update your profile and account information at any time from your account settings. Signed-in users can delete their account from Settings. If you cannot access your account, use our account deletion page for instructions.
9. Children’s privacy
Public coursework and signed-out checked practice can be used without creating an account. Signed-out practice does not save an account identifier or attempt history. Student tutoring features require account terms acceptance. Tutor communication is limited to active accounts and active tutors who have accepted the tutor terms and passed mandatory training.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “last updated” date above when we do.
